Waiting for the flowers to bloom...

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a great week...

Though it's spring now (officially) there's no sign of winter getting over. It's cold, windy and to add up to that it started snowing. Just the thought of wearing all those layers of cloths makes me sick. I love snow and we had lots of fun but its way too much for me.

Crochet Sundress (work in progress)

Hello everyone!

Hope all of you are having a lovely week... Mine is turning out to be a very fruitful one :-)

Mornings are very hectic for me, specially the weekdays...I think it's same with all of you.

Presently, I'm working on a lovely crochet project: a sundress for my five years old daughter. It's half crocheted and half fabric (not good at sewing though). I always make a sketch of the pattern and ideas I have in mind....makes your job much easier.

As I don't have a sewing machine, I'm hand sewing the dress - fabric skirt with the crochet bodice (taking longer time than usual). Hopefully, by next week the sundress should be ready to wear.

I'll try to come up with the pattern to share with you all but as of now check out the crochet stitch I used for the bodice. I modified it a little bit from the original stitch.

Modified version
 Original

Some of the materials I used for the dress...

 These buttons look so cute...

I used 4-ply soft knitting cotton and 1.5 mm hook....worked pretty well.

Oh! this is such a beautiful trim...it was sitting in my stash for long (gifted by my sister)...finally, got to use it. A crochet lace too would enhance the look of the dress. I'll be using it at the waist.

Working on lot of other projects...mostly for spring/summer. I'll share all of it once they are done :-)

Please let me know if you like the crochet sundress. As soon as I write the pattern, I'll share it with you all...so, stay in tune.

Happy crocheting & knitting!

Reason behind my blog's name...

Hi friends,

Hope you all are doing great!

When I started crocheting, I always wanted to move to a place with abundant winter so that I could flood my wardrobe with lots & lots of sweaters, socks, mitts, caps....never ending list :-) I was so naive I thought we can crochet & knit only woollies; so, I named my blog as "Welcome Winter!". Unfortunately, I lived in Bangalore where we hardly needed any woolens. So, I started making dresses, skirts, etc. using threads. (I simply love to crochet, be it anything...)

Now that we moved to Boston, I can do justice to the name of my blog my making lots of winter wear. I have a huge list of items for the next winter which I will share later. Till then some of the stuffs I made for this winter:

Dresses and sweaters...

 Newborn booties and caps...

 Caps, mitts and neck warmers...

Cowls...

Booties...

But I do not want to limit myself to creating only winter wear....so, I'm getting ready for spring/summer. Can't wait to share with you all my "Summer in Crochet" collection.

I'd like to share with you the pattern of the neck-warmer I made for my daughter (it's a must have for winters).

I'm back...

It's been a long, long....long time since i last wrote my blog. I really wanted to share with you all about what I've been doing but couldn't manage time. Went through a very rough patch of time with lots of downs and a few ups too :-). No matter how difficult was the time I never stopped crocheting. Actually, it kept me going and gave me great relief.

What I have been doing all this time? Lots... :-) Here's a glimpse of my work
